Nearly 10 years old and still sharp as ever, Leonard the tri-color Beagle arrived at his session ready to negotiate, explore, and show off exactly who he is. Curious, willful, and endlessly entertaining, Leonard proved that age hasn’t dimmed his intelligence or his enthusiasm. If anything, it’s refined it.
We met Leonard and his mom, Melanie, at Cypress Grove Park, a favorite spot for dogs who like room to roam and plenty to investigate. Leonard wasted no time putting his nose to work, carefully surveying the area and weighing every request with classic hound logic. He’s a thinker. A communicator. A dog who wants to understand the ask, the payoff, and whether an extra cookie might be involved.

One of our favorite moments came when Leonard and Melanie “sounded the alarm” together. Nose to the sky, eyes closed, full beagle confidence on display. It was equal parts hilarious and impressive, the kind of moment that perfectly captures Leonard’s personality and their shared rhythm. Between that signature bahwoooo, his eagerness to run toward the camera, and his proud perch-seeking tendencies, Leonard gave us no shortage of moments to work with.

As Leonard steps into his senior years, this session was about honoring the energy and joy that still define him. We wrapped up with a few quieter portraits once he’d burned off some steam, capturing the softer side of their bond. The result is a set of images that feel true to Leonard: smart, expressive, and completely unforgettable.
If your dog is entering their senior chapter and you want to preserve who they are right now, we’d love to help. These sessions are designed to meet your dog where they are, with patience, humor, and plenty of treats along the way.
