Some sessions stay with us forever.
We met Erin, Chip, and their son Jordan for a quiet afternoon at home with Mia, their 10-1/2-year-old brindle Boxer. Mia was no longer very mobile, but what she lacked in physical strength she more than made up for in presence. She stayed close to her people, resting near them, soaking in familiar voices, gentle hands, and the comfort of being exactly where she belonged.

Mia had been part of Erin and Chip’s life for more than a decade. She came into their world during an intense season while Erin was studying for the bar exam, and from that point on, she was a constant. Loyal, affectionate, and deeply attached, Mia had a way of letting you know when she wanted love, nudging gently for pets, especially behind her ears.

This session was intentionally slow and simple. There was no pressure for poses or movement. Instead, we focused on what mattered most: Jordan’s quiet affection for Mia, the way she leaned into her people, and the feeling of togetherness that filled the room. These moments weren’t about perfection. They were about connection.

The day after this session, Mia crossed the rainbow bridge.
We are incredibly grateful Erin and Chip chose to document this chapter of their story. These photographs are not just memories of how Mia looked, but of how deeply she was loved, right up to the very end.
If you’re navigating a tender season with a beloved pet, know that it’s okay to slow down. A session like this isn’t about doing more. It’s about honoring what’s already there. When you’re ready, we’re here.
