There are some sessions that stay with us long after the camera is packed away, and Stetson’s was one of them.
At 17 years old, this sweet little Jack Russell had shared nearly a lifetime with the Maloney family. Tina and Eddie had raised him from a tiny puppy into the beloved little shadow who followed them from room to room, curled up beside them on the couch, and earned countless nicknames along the way. “Model Stets,” “Little Buddy,” “Mr. Man,” and “Sir” were just a few of the names that reflected the enormous place he held in their hearts.

When we arrived at their Orlando home for this Cherished Companion Session, the focus wasn’t on perfection. It was simply about preserving love.
Stetson was very ill during the session, and his family knew their time together was limited. Because of that, we approached the entire experience slowly and gently, allowing him to remain comfortable in the place he knew best.

One of the most meaningful parts of these sessions is capturing connection exactly as it exists. Sometimes that means playful energy and wagging tails. Other times, it means documenting quiet companionship, gentle touches, and the comfort of simply being together.
Even in his fragile state, there were still glimpses of the sweet little dog his family had known for nearly two decades. The peaceful way he rested in their arms. The familiarity of being close to them. The calm moments outside in the grass, feeling the breeze against his face.

Just a few days after this session, Stetson passed away.
We are so incredibly grateful we were able to help preserve these memories for his family before that goodbye. Sessions like this are never easy, but they are deeply important. Photographs become a way to hold onto the small details that time tries to soften: the shape of their face, the way they fit in your arms, the quiet routines that once felt ordinary but were actually everything.
Stetson was clearly loved beyond measure, and it was an honor to document that love.
