Meet Gemma & Ellie! These two sweet sisters share a special bond not only with each other, but with their humans, Anne and Jared.
Gemma, an 11-year-old Lab and Springer Spaniel mix, has been by Anne’s side since her final year of college. Over the years, Gemma has been there through countless milestones, becoming much more than a pet. As Anne puts it, she’s her very best friend. More recently, the family welcomed Ellie, a Lab and Australian Shepherd mix, who was adopted as a puppy by Anne and Jared. Together, the four have built a life full of adventures, walks, and plenty of time outdoors.
When it came time to plan their photo session, choosing Lake Druid Park in Orlando was an easy decision. It’s one of their favorite places to visit together and perfectly reflects what these dogs love most. Wide open spaces, winding walking paths, new scents to investigate, and plenty of room to explore made it an ideal backdrop.
Gemma especially enjoyed the opportunity to take in all the sights and smells around the park. Although she’s slowed down a little with age, she still lights up whenever she’s outside. Friendly, curious, and always ready to make a new friend, Gemma spent much of the session happily exploring while keeping a close eye on her favorite people.
Ellie brought her own energy and enthusiasm to the session, and together the sisters kept us smiling all evening. One of our favorite parts of photographing families with dogs is capturing the unique dynamics between everyone involved, and Anne, Jared, Gemma, and Ellie share a connection that was impossible to miss.
For Anne, these photographs were about preserving memories and creating keepsakes to treasure for years to come. Sessions like this are a reminder that some of the most meaningful photos are often the simplest: spending time together in a place you love with the pets who make every day better.
