A brisk December morning at Cypress Grove Park delivered the perfect backdrop for Sadie, Appa, and Korra’s session. The light was soft, the lake was calm, and the oak trees framed everything in classic Florida beauty.

Lindsay and Aimee wanted photos of all of them together, and that sense of togetherness shaped the entire morning.

Sadie, a 15-year-old merle Aussie mix, is the definition of gentle. She moves slowly these days and prefers a relaxed pace, so we built the session around her comfort. She soaked up the attention, leaning into pets and lifting her ears every time she heard her mom’s voice. There’s something especially meaningful about photographing a senior dog who has grown up alongside her person. Sadie has been with Aimee since college, and that history shows in the quiet way they look at each other.

Appa brought the energy. An eight-year-old German Shepherd with a black sable coat, he is equal parts athlete and goofball with a major case of FOMO. His beloved ball made several appearances, and we embraced it. We made sure to capture the bond that began when Lindsay welcomed him home while grieving a beloved dog. Appa has clearly filled that space with joy.

Korra, their five-year-old golden retriever and “Covid puppy,” balanced everything out. She’s eager to please, playful, and happiest when she’s close. While new places can make her a little nervous, she settled in beautifully with her moms nearby. Some of the most special moments of the session were Korra climbing into a lap for a quick snuggle before heading off to play again.

We explored the open fields and tree-lined paths, highlighting the natural Florida scenery Lindsay and Aimee love. The combination of golden grass, sprawling oaks, and lakeside views gave us variety while keeping the focus where it belonged: on three very loved dogs and the women who adore them.
