Some sessions ask us to slow down, to be present, and to notice the small, meaningful moments as they happen. This session with Sadie and her family in Lake Mary was one of those.
Sadie, a 14-1/2-year-old Great Dane mix, was described by her family as beautiful, sweet, and gentle, and she lived up to every word. Over the years, she had been full of personality, greeting her family with a toy in her mouth, “talking” when she wanted attention, and chasing squirrels with determination. By the time of our session, her pace had slowed, but her presence was just as steady and full of love.

We photographed at home, in the spaces that mattered most to her – the yard and the lanai by the pool. Being in a familiar place allowed Sadie to stay comfortable and relaxed, and we moved at her pace, giving her time to settle, rest, and simply be.
Lauren and Peter spent time close beside her, gently petting her and sharing quiet moments that felt deeply rooted in years of love and routine. Watching Sadie with their young son added another layer to the session – a connection between generations, even in its earliest stages.

We focused on the details that matter most: her eyes, the softness of her expression, the way she leaned into touch. These are the moments that often become the most meaningful over time. Not the big gestures, but the quiet ones.
Sadie passed away the following day.
Sessions like this are never about creating something perfect. They’re about preserving what already exists – the bond, the history, and the feeling of having shared a life together. This session now holds that space for her family.
If you’re considering a session for an older pet, especially one whose time may be limited, it’s always the right time. A calm, at-home session allows us to work with care and intention, capturing the moments you’ll want to hold onto.
